Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday said that the assassins of Mata Chand Kaur, wife of late Satguru Jagjit Singh of Namdhari Darbar would be brought to book soon.
A high-level special investigation team (SIT) has already been constituted, which would arrest the assassins soon, said the Chief Minister while speaking to the mediapersons after attending the cremation of Mata Chand Kaur at Bhaini Sahib here.
He said that the State Government is closely keeping a tab on the progress of this SIT in the case.
A day before, Punjab deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal while condoling the death of Mata Chand Kaur had ordered the setting up of Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the supervision of ADGP-cum-Director, Bureau of Investigation IPS Sahota to probe into the circumstances leading to her death.
The SIT comprises of Commissioner Police ludhiana Jatinder Singh Aulakh as Chairman, SSP Khanna Satinder Singh and AIG (Crime) Ravi Charan Singh Brar both as members.

The widow of a former head of the Namdhari sect was shot dead by two unidentified assailants at a Gurdwara complex near ludhiana on Monday. Chand Kaur Namdhari, 88, was fired at from close range by two motorcycle-borne assailants at Gurdwara Bhaini Sahib, the headquarters of the sect.
Punjab Home Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal should immediately resign from his post taking moral responsibility for the deteriorating law and order situation in the State, said leader of opposition in Punjab Assembly, Charanjit Singh Channi while participating in the last rites of late Mata Chand Kaur in Bhaini Sahib.
He said that the law and order situation in the state has worsened badly in the recent times. Now the people are not safe in their homes also. The very tragic shoot out in the Bhaini Sahib premises in which late Mata Chand Kaur died is glaring example to this. The police have become just a mute spectator in the hands of their political bosses, said Channi.
He further said that the government decision to constitute SIT is also mere eyewash. The SIT is being worked out to just give easy way to the culprits which has been happening in earlier cases also, alleged he.
Channi attended the last rites of late Mata Chand Kaur at Bhaini Sahib alongwith the party legislatures and senior leaders on Tuesday.
