PNS

The State Forest Department has lodged a case naming the commandant of an Army depot in Ampokhra Range of Terai West Forest Division “as chiefly responsible for the death of a tigress”. The tigress was found dead in a clutch wire snare on Saturday in an area where the Army does not allow the forest staff to patrol.

Chief conservator of forests, Kumaon circle, Param Jit Singh, said a case was lodged under the Wildlife Protection Act for the poaching of the Schedule-I animal against the commandant of the Army depot and other unknown Army personnel since the big cat was found dead in an area where the forest staff is not allowed to patrol by the Army.
