Ambala Cong MlA Vinod Sharma to join BJP?

Bhupinder Sharma

Disappointed with the Congress high command, former Union Minister and Congress MlA from Ambala city, Vinod Sharma has knocked the doors of BJP.

According to sources, a meeting between BJP chief Rajnath Singh and Sharma was arranged at BJP head office in New Delhi on February 28. Sharma, a close associate of Haryana Chief Minister, was interested to be either member of Rajya Sabha or in getting ticket for parliamentary elections from Karnal. He had also conveyed his feelings to the Chief Minister but with the interference of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, the membership of Rajya Sabha had been given to Kumari Selja. And, now when sitting MP Arvind Sharma staking claims on Karnal parliamentary seat, Sharma is finding himself standing nowhere.

Sources said that he is also disappointed with Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for not recommending his case strongly to the Congress high command. Sharma has been on Jan Sampark Yatra across the State for many days. He had not only resigned from the post of member from State Elections Campaign Committee but is also not attending the Budget session at Haryana Assembly in Chandigarh in an indication of his disappointment with the Congress party.

The State BJP is tight-lipped over this development. When contacted Haryana BJP spokesperson Vir Kumar Yadav and BJP legislature Anil Vij, they said they are not aware of this. According to sources, BJP is not interested in inducting Sharma in the party keeping in view Sharma’s mediation for the land deal between Robert Vadra and DlF. The BJP which is already targeting Vadra for his shoddy land deal with DlF, would not like to include the person (Sharma) in the party as Sharma had worked as key player in the said land deal between Vadra and DlF. BJP can’t take risk at national level especially at that time when parliamentary elections are not far away, said sources.

Meanwhile, Sharma didn’t contradict the rumours of him joining BJP. During Jan Sampark Yatra at Radaur on Sunday, he denied replying on the issue and said that “he doesn’t give reply to the questions based on hearsay”.
