Coming out strongly against the voices of dissent among the party, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday suspended former Deputy Speaker Bir Devinder Singh from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect. As per the information, PPCC has also forwarded recommendation of senior Congress leader Jagmeet Brar’s suspension to the party high command. Brar is an All India Congress Committee member (AICC) and the PPCC is not eligible to take action against Brar that is why, his case has been forwarded to AICC. A committee headed by Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, with Ajaib Singh Bhatti and Rana KP Singh as members, has been formed to look further into the matter. Bir Devinder has been asked to reply to the committee by April 7 as why further action should not be taken against him. The panel will look into the charges of indiscipline against the suspended leader. A day before, Bir Devinder had gone vocal in media that he would depose against Amarinder Singh in the Amritsar Improvement Trust scam.
