Taking on Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday ridiculed Monday’s no-show of his party’s dharna on the SYl issue at Kapuri in Patiala, saying that it showed the people’s disillusionment with him.
Making a mockery of its ‘indefinite dharna’ on the SYl issue, AAP had on Monday called off its Kapuri protest, which was launched last week by the party with much fanfare in the wake of the Supreme Court verdict on SYl.
“The resumption of the dharna on Tuesday only added to the ludicrousness of the whole affair, since it showed that AAP is fumbling hopelessly to retain some semblance of credibility in the eyes of the people of Punjab…The pathetic response to the dharna since its launch showed that people had seen through the gimmickry being resorted to be Kejriwal and his party,” said Capt Amarinder.
Once again questioning Kejriwal’s baffling silence on the Supreme Court verdict on SYl, Capt Amarinder challenged him to speak up and make his stand clear. “The people of Punjab want to know whether or not you are with them in this hour of crisis,” he said, urging the AAP leader to stop playing games on such a serious issue, which could have life-or-death implications for the citizens of the state.
On behalf of the people of Punjab, I demand to know if you are supporting Punjab on the SYl issue or not,” Capt Amarinder told Kejriwal, adding, “You cannot evade responsibility to the people of Punjab if you have dreams of ruling the State.”
