As Partap Singh Bajwa formally took over as PCC president, a disgruntled former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh organised a show of strength to highlight the fact that he still enjoys considerable clout among the MlAs and those who had lost the Assembly polls last year.

Amarinder hosted a lunch for the party leaders which was attended among others by over 22 party MlAs, about 40 candidates who contested the last Assembly elections and lost, PCC vice presidents, general secretaries and the district presidents. The Captain went to the Punjab Congress office where his successor Bajwa took over.

The MlAs who attended lunch included Sunil Jakhar, laal Singh, Rana Sodhi, Arvind Khanna, Ajaib Sinh Bhatti, Sukhi Randhawa, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Joginder Singh Panjgraian, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Bibi Harchand Kaur, Mohammad Sadique, Amrik Dhillon, Kewal Dhillon, Rana Gurjit, Ramanjit Singh Sikki, Surinder Dawer, Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Charanjit Singh Channi, Hardayal Kambhoj and Gur Iqbal Kaur Babli.

Dissidence against Bajwa is set to increase in the days to come with the Captain flexing his muscles.
