Amarinder asks to check Sangrur MP's mental fitness

Condemning the attack on journalists at Bassi Pathana on Thursday by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers which was instigated by Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday demanded that Sangrur MP must be booked for rioting and assault and also referred for medical check up to check his mental fitness for public appearances.

“These are the signs of utter frustration on part of AAP leaders like Mann, who seem to have lost their mind over the developments that have taken in their party,” said Capt while suggesting that Sangrur MP should be referred for medical examination before being pronounced fit to go to and address the public functions, lest he provokes and instigates more people to violence.

He said that such behaviour must not be let go unchecked and unexamined lest it leads to serious law and order problem. Mann not only needs medical and mental treatment, but legal action as well, he said.

Capt Amarinder further said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal deliberately sacked the Dalit Minister Sandeep Kumar as he wanted to divert public attention from the ongoing crisis in Punjab. “Kejriwal has known about the existence of the CD long before he appointed Kumar as a minister,” he said.

Capt Amarinder clarified that while he and his party did not approve of the allegations against Sandeep Kumar, he questioned the timing of his sacking, asking why was he sacked now.

The state Congress chief also questioned moral authority of Jasbir Singh Bir and Jarnail Singh to probe allegations against former AAP convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur. “They neither have credentials nor authority to sit over the judgement against Chhotepur,” he observed.

He pointed out that Bir was among 21 party leaders who sought sacking of Chhotepur. “How can a complainant sit on the judgement over someone against whom he has complainedIJ” he asked, while observing that it confirms only one thing that the inquiry is a sham and the party wanted to get rid of Chhotepur.
