All members of Legislative Assembly, Haryana will now get a stenographer with the state government issuing directions in this regard.
The stenographers will be available at district centers for all the MLAs of the state. The respective District Deputy Commissioners have been asked to make arrangements for this.
Welcoming the decision of the State Government, Speaker Gian Chand Gupta said that along with the legislative work, field work of MLAs has also increased. It is important to give all necessary facilities to the legislators. With the decision of giving stenographers to MLAs, the State Government has fulfilled their long-standing demand, he added.
Several MLAs from Haryana had written a letter to Gupta referring to the rules mentioned in the handbook published by the Haryana Legislative Assembly. They had said that there is a provision to provide stenographers to the MLAs for their work, but such facilities were not being provided to the MLAs of Haryana.
Taking cognizance of the letter, Speaker Gian Chand Gupta had written a letter to the State Government asking it to take action.
