Bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna held a roadshows across 40 villages of Gurdaspur lok Sabha constituency on Saturday campaigning for his father Vinod Khanna.
Speaking to a huge crowd that gathered to catch a glimpse of the star, he said, “My father’s biggest asset is his honesty and simplicity. He will only promise what he knows he can do and deliver.”
Addressing the villagers who walked up to Akshaye to shake hands with him and share their woes, he said “My father has always believed and made us believe too that he has a fifth child, and this is Gurdaspur.”
Akshaye campaigned for his father during his earlier parliamentary elections as well and has built a connect with people. Vinod Khanna’s wife Kavita Khanna also joined Akshaye in the road show.
Akshaye said that an able leader who worked for the overall development of the country was crucial. Pitching on Modi wave, he said he was not a political pundit, but as a layman he could feel the groundswell of support for BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi. “Vote for Modi, vote for Vinod Khanna, and you will never be disappointed,” he added.
Simultaneously, Vinod Khanna held a road show in the Batala Assembly constituency where he lashed out at his opponent Partap Singh Bajwa and the Congress Vinod Khanna’s pitch is “I have fame, and money — there’s no reason for me to join politics for any of these reasons. I am here only to serve people.”
