Chandigarh advocate Ajay Jagga on Wednesday wrote a letter to Vishvas Mehta Election Observer, Chandigarh parliamentary constituency requesting to impose a ban on the sale of ink removers till the voting is over here.
“Sting operation revealed how the ink can be erased with the chemicals available in the market. It has also shown certain persons claims to selling such ink in bulk. As such, sabotaging the finger marking process could cast doubt on the legitimacy of the vote and ultimately of the democracy. This will also be mockery of the Election laws and Model Code of Conduct. Since the superintendence, direction and control of elections is vested in the Election Commission of India under article 324 of the Constitution of India, so it is requested that the necessary order, as requested above, may please be issued in this regard, with immediate effect, said Jagga.
