AAP releases first list of Punjab office-bearers

PNS

Paving way for its restructuring exercise in Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday announced the names of its State body office bearers and zone presidents in the state. Party’s State co-president Aman Arora, who was given the responsibility of restructuring the party in State, released the first list of office bearers.

Arora said that feedback, which was received from all quarters in the party, was examined besides discussion and deliberations with state party leaders. The list was finalised after  the consent of State party president Bhagwant Mann, said he. He said that feedback collected from the workers gathered during his State wide tour ‘AAP Apniya Naal’ helped a lot in making these appointments.

Arora said that the list carries the names of the office bearers of State body and the presidents of five zones, newly formed as part of the restructuring. This list will be followed by a few more appointments in the days to come, which will further help in strengthening the party, he said.

He said that the appointments of district presidents, frontal wing heads and office bearers of the zones will be announced in next list.

“The party is forming eight-layer organisation and will appoint office bearers at State, zone, district, assembly, block, circle, village and booth levels in the coming days,” he said.

AAP’s all MPs and MlAs have been made the part of ex-officio state executive. Gulshan Chhabra has been appointed secretary, Garry Birring as organization building team in-charge, and Sukhwinder Singh as treasurer.

Among AAP’s vice-presidents are Dr Balbir Singh — who contested 2017 polls against Capt Amarinder Singh from Patiala, Charanjeet Singh Channi — former Congress MP and AAP’s candidate from Nawanshahr, Baldev Singh Azad — Malout candidate, Ashutosh Tandon — party’s former convener of Fatehgarh Sahib, Kuldeep Dhaliwal — a former Congressman, Karanbir Tiwana — party candidate from Patiala Rural, and Hari Singh Tohra.

The party constituted a five-member Disciplinary Committee, headed by Dr Inderbir Nijjer, who unsuccessfully contested 2017 polls against Congress MlA Inderbir Singh Bolaria from his bastion, Amritsar South.

Other members are Brig Raj Kumar, Jasbir Singh Bir, Raj lali Gill, and Col Bhalinder Singh.

Dividing the state into five zones, the party also appointed its zonal presidents.
