Eyeing elections in the future in Punjab, all the parliamentarians of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday met the party chief, Arvind Kejriwal to discuss party’s strategy in the State.
All four MPs, who were elected from Punjab in the recently concluded lok Sabha election, met Kejriwal at his residence to take his wishes and discuss the party’s next course of action in Punjab.
To everyone’s surprise, the party went on to bag four seats in the State while drawing a blank in all other States, including Delhi where it had formed a Government.
Emerging as the second best party in terms of seat share, AAP’s Sangrur candidate and comedian-turned-politician Bhagwant Mann defeated Akali politician and the Congress sitting MP by a record margin of more than two lakh votes.
A doctor, Dharamvira Gandhi, also drubbed three-time sitting MP from Patiala Preneet Kaur, besides Prof Sadhu Singh defeating sitting Faridkot MP Paramjit Kaur Gulshan, and Harinder Singh Khalsa winning the Fatehgarh Sahib seat.
All of them discussed AAP’s strategy for Punjab’s assembly election scheduled for 2017 and also the upcoming local body election. However, Patiala MP Gandhi said that it was nothing but a courtesy call and discussions regarding party’s strategy for the forthcoming local body elections and 2017 Punjab Assembly election were held.
Senior party leaders Manish Sisodia and Prashant Bhushan, besides AAP candidates Harvinder Singh Phoolka from ludhiana and Gul Panag from Chandigarh were also present during the meeting.
