Asserting that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would go the Manpreet Singh Badal led Punjab Peoples Party way, Yogendra Yadav, President, Swaraj India party on Wednesday said that his party will try hard to provide an alternative platform to the depressed volunteers of AAP.
Addressing a Press conference in Chandigarh, Yadav, who himself was a founder member of AAP, said that the recent happenings have again created a vaccum in the state politics for a moral political alternate, who can provide people with alternative policies other than the traditional political forces in the State.
He said that Swaraj India was open to work for building a formidable third front under leaders like Dr Dharamveer Gandhi. We are in talks with Dr Gandhi, Democratic Swaraj Party, Apna Punjab Party, Dalit Movement, Kissan front and Ex-army front for the creation of a third front, said Yadav. Asked about supporting Navjot Singh Sidhu, Yadav said that he had not talked to him personally but he was open for an alliance with Sidhu.
Yadav said that the party had appointed a 7 member preparatory committee under Chairmanship of Rajiv Godara in Punjab, and the committee had been asked to build the organisation structure of the party in next two weeks.
Asked on the latest prospects of AAP in Punjab, Yadav said that the party seemed to be a tough competition for Akalis few months back, but its popularity graph came down with the same speed as it had gone up. He said that people are again looking towards Congress and SAD/BJP combine.
Yadav said AAP volunteers were depressed but were silent as they are not finding a space to do, for which they had joined the party. Indicating early announcement of a front by Dr Dharamveer Gandhi and AAP’s former convener Suchcha Singh Chhotepur, Yadav said that Swaraj India would like to work to create a third front, which can provide a transparent and moral politics to the people. And his party was ready to remain at back stage also to create such an alliance of likeminded people.
