AAP demands probe by HC monitored panel

PNS

Aam Aadmi Party on Friday demanded an inquiry by the committee appointed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court into multi-crore SC students fund scam in Punjab.

Demanding the inquiry, AAP’s Punjab convener Gurpreet Singh Waraich (Ghuggi) said that private colleges in the State gulped more than `100 crore by showing 30,000 fake admissions for the session 2014-15.

“The money was meant for the Scheduled Caste (SC) students. The scam shows that the authorities are hand-in-gloves with those who did embezzlement,” he alleged.

Accusing the Congress in failing to perform the duty of opposition party in Vidhan Sabha, Ghuggi said that Congress mysteriously kept quiet on the issue related to lakhs of SC students in the state.

“Congress leaders have their own stakes in the private education mafia business that prevented them to raise voice against the alleged scam,” he said.

Ghuggi said that the scam affected the students related to SC community to an extent that they could not continue their education. On the other hand, private collages got crores of rupees by showing fake admissions, he added.

AAP’s State convener said that after the formation of AAP Government in Punjab, the rights of SC students will be secured. “The Government education institutes will be made better than the private ones. Private education mafia will be tamed and annual audit will be made compulsory for these institutes,” he said.
