AAP demands apology from Justice Narang committee

PNS

The principal opposition, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Tuesday demanded an apology from Justice JS Narang (retired) “for the deceit and fraud committed in the name of mining inquiry”. The party also demanded from Justice Narang, who headed a probe panel to look into alleged involvement of Punjab Cabinet Minister Rana Gurjit Singh in the sand mining auction, to “refund all kinds of remunerations as head of the bogus commission”.

AAP MlA and the leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha Sukhpal Khaira, in a letter to Justice Narang, minced no words to say that setting up of a Commission was “a pre-planned case of deceit and cheating in the name of bogus inquiry”.

“I demand that you should tender a public apology to the people of Punjab for a bogus and premeditated clean chit inquiry. I also demand that you should deposit back to the public exchequer money misused by you in your capacity as head of the Narang commission, that include all kinds of remunerations to you as salary, TA, DA, office staff and space, vehicle, security etc,” said Khaira in his letter.

AAP leader, in a hard-hitting open letter, stated that he has written a letter “to bring out a very poor, deceitful and meek character of yours, as evident by your conduct as head of the so-called bogus Narang Commission”.

“Although we had termed your appointment as head of the Narang Commission as a premeditated ‘clean chit’ commission but yet we did not think that a retired judge of the High Court in the evening of his life would deceive, cheat and mislead the people of Punjab on a vital matter of corruption in high places involving a Minister,” he said.

Khaira said that as expected, Justice Narang “shamelessly” handed out a clean chit to the said Minister Rana Gurjit, “ignoring glaring facts which even a layman would have been able to understand and indict the said Minister”.
