AAP announces three more candidates

PNS

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday released its tenth list announcing three more candidates for February 14 Punjab polls.

Congress’ former Minister Joginder Singh Mann, who switched from the Congress to AAP a day before, has been rewarded with the party ticket from Phagwara constituency. Mann, who also resigned as the chairman of Punjab Agro Industries Corporation, is a prominent leader from the Scheduled Caste (SC) community. Three-time MLA from Phagwara Mann, who had also served as a Minister in several Cabinets including those of Beant Singh, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, and Capt Amarinder Singh,  was upset with the Congress over alleged inaction against those behind a scholarship scam and a long-pending demand to make Phagwara a district. In a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Mann said that he had a dream that he would die as a Congressman. “But with Congress patronising the guilty of the post-matric scholarship scheme, my conscience doesn't allow me to stay here,” said Mann while ending his 50-year-old association with the Congress party.

Besides Mann, AAP has named Gurpreet Singh Gogi as its candidate from Ludhiana West and Ajitpal Singh Kohli from Patiala Urban.
