AAP accuses SAD of violating poll code

PNS

Accusing Shiromani Akali Dal Badal of violating the model code of conduct in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday registered complaints regarding the same with the election commission.

“SAD candidate from Bholath and son-in-law of senior SAD leader Bhupinder Singh has violated the guidelines of Election Commission of India by seeking votes on religious grounds,” said AAP’s Human Right Wing head advocate Navkiran Singh, substantiating his allegations with a video.

Navkiran said that it was clearly visible in the video that Bhupinder was asking the voters of a particular community to vote for him depicting himself as the representative of Sant Prem Singh ji.

“AAP has registered a complaint regarding it to the Election Commission but the video is still available on Bhupinder’s Facebook page. The Election Commission must take action against him,” he said.

While accusing the SAD of dividing people on religious lines and doing politics of religion, he said that in another case at Hasanpur village near Dakha, banners and painting of SAD taking credit of religious visits were not removed even after the announcement of code of conduct

Showing photos of Akali leaders distributing sports kits in Rampura Phool constituency, Navkiran said that the police are facilitating Akali leaders in violating the norms. “A complaint was also made against Akali leaders of Kharar constituency for distributing lPG cylinders and stoves. The response of EC is being awaited in this regard,” he said.

Navkiran asked the people of the state to inform the Election Commission of any violation done by political parties.

He also demanded installation of more paramilitary forces in the state to complete the electoral process smoothly.
