Haryana Information, Public Relations and languages Minister Kavita Jain on Friday said compensation of Rs 2.92 lakh will be given to three journalists for damage to their cameras during the Jat agitation in Dhani Gopal at Fatehabad in March 2017.
The Department has prepared a proposal for giving compensation after getting report from officers, which has been approved by the Chief Minister Manohar lal.
Jain said anti-social elements had attacked mediapersons engaged in coverage of the Jat agitation at Dhani Gopal on March 19. They damaged their cameras while misbehaving with mediapersons. The local administration had assured assessment of the loss of mediapersons, said the Minister
Since the incident did not happen in the urban area, the officers of the nodal department refused to compensate them due to lack of policy. But after intervention, the authorities prepared a report in this regard, she said.
Journalists works in uneven circumstances and the government always stands by their side and is ready to provide every possible assistance, she added.
