A day after a 28-year-old doctor was found dead in mysterious circumstances at her rented accommodation, the post-mortem report on Tuesday revealed that Dr Yashomati died due to medicine overdose. Working at a private hospital in Mohali, Dr Yashomati was found dead at her rented accommodation in Phase I on June 8 morning.
Following the allegations of ‘suspected murder’ by her parents, the local police had asked Mohali Civil Hospital, Phase-VI, to conduct an autopsy. Dr Yashomati’s parents, who belonged to Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, reached Mohali on Monday afternoon. Mohali SP (City-I) Ashish Kapoor had said that the police has found a syringe, containing some fluid, near the body but it has not recovered any suicide note from the spot.
The incident came to light at about 9 am on Monday when Dr Yashomati’s colleague, Pratibha, went to her place and found the door closed, the police said. “When despite making repeated calls, Dr Yashomati did not open the door, Pratibha pushed the door. Since the door was not bolted from inside, it opened. The doctor was found lying motionless inside the room. She was taken to the private hospital where she worked, where doctors declared her dead on arrival,” said Inspector Sukhwinder Singh, SHO, Phase I police station.
The police has also searched deceased room for clues and scrutinised the call details of her mobile phone. “The call details revealed that she was in regular touch with a doctor based in the nearby township of Kharar,” the SP said.
