Congress demands white paper on demonetization

The Congress on Friday demanded a white paper on the outcome of demonetisation. Raising the issue in a Press conference in Shimla, former Union Minister Sachin Pilot said if BJP was so enthusiastic with the results of demonetisation it should bring out a white paper on the results of it.

Stating that BJP was looking for face saving measures, Pilot said Prem Kumar Dhumal was declared Chief Ministerial candidate because BJP had sniffed its defeat in Himachal Pradesh.

He said BJP knew that the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had lost its sheen, and that is why, Dhumal was projected as CM here. He said people were asking the reason of this change in BJP’s strategy, as the party had not announced CM candidates for Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh so far, while both the State were going to polls after Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.

Pilot, who was in Shimla to campaign for Congress candidates, accused BJP of using central agencies like CBI and EDs against rival leaders, Pilot said the agencies had been targeting Congress leaders, while the cases against BJP leaders were pushed under the carpet.
