Credit-game in Punjab Congress

The right hand of the Punjab Congress does not know what the left is doing. In fact, whatever it is doing is not even in coordination, resulting in failures. ReasonIJ Race for taking credits. During Punjab Youth Congress’ protest to gherao Chief Minister’s residence, all efforts of Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) chief Vikram Chaudhary to hog the limelight dashed to the ground when he see pictures of his predecessor MP Ravneet Bittu, instead of his, in the newspapers. Surprised, Chaudhary was unaware of Bittu’s similar protest at the same place. This is not all! The credit-taking game was on between party’s top leadership too. On one hand, where the Congress legislative Party (ClP) is acknowledging its efforts for Centre’s decision to send fact-finding committee to Punjab to access bungling in Central funds, the Pradesh Congress Committee is giving itself the credit for the same, claiming that ClP leader Sunil Jakhar submitted the memorandum in this regard signed by PPCVC chief Partap Bajwa. Whoever takes the credit, but in the rat-race within the party, it’s the ruling alliance who’s gaining the most.

Monkey Business in Punjab University

Not just the students, the Punjab University is dealing with the antics of the monkeys. Generally considered to be intelligent, a monkey visited the PU’s Department of University School of Open learning, apparently, to gain some more knowledge. However, considering him ineligible to give admission in any of the subject, the Department officials were stunned seeing the “huge” monkey roaming around freely in the corridors. Most panic-stricken were the ‘fair sex’ who thought it right to leave the Department building right then, and returned to work only after making sure that the primate has left, that two after almost two hours of struggle.

Rain pain for MCC

Rain in the City Beautiful few days back was more than a welcome event. Only the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh (MCC) was caught off guard. The city was flushed new and the roads were flooded as usual. All the tall claims of the Corporation about clearing the storm drains were drenched in water and which was flowing helter-skelter except into the drains. The pedestrians and the traffic both were heavily disturbed except the mongrels that were having a nice time taking a splash. With the onset of monsoon just round the corner the Municipal Corporation of the city is all but ready.

Race for senior Dalit leader heats up

The race has started in Haryana Congress to prove, who is senior Dalit leader in the State. State Congress president Phool Chand Mullana and Union Minister Kumari Selja are claiming that they are senior and actual dalit leaders. While Selja always blame Hooda Government for atrocities on dalits in the State, Mullana on the other side, is Hooda’s loyalist. Mullana, while reacting on Selja’s allegations said “Who says that atrocities are being done with Dalits. It’s common in the house to have both good and bad things, what is the need to exaggerate such issues. Witnessing the infighting in the Congress leaders, the dalits who are in minority in the State, are also confused, especially at the time, when lok Sabha elections are scheduled in 2014.

Ministry busy in campaign, Secretariat on ‘leave’

With Ministers busy in Mandi parliamentary bypoll campaigning where Chief Minister’s wife is contesting the election, Secretariat staffs are virtually enjoying a leave. Go to any office in Himachal Pradesh State secretariat and you will find gossiping about the poll outcome.

Foe turned friend makes effort to woo Raja Saheb

Strange are the rules of politics. One independent MlA is a king of a top tourist destination and has contested several elections against Raja Saheb and his wife, even defeating her with record margin once. But now the cards have changed, he has abandoned his former party, constituted his own party and became a lone MlA of his party. Now, for political survival he has extended all support to Congress candidate but the support is not going well among Raja Saheb loyalists who are terming it as mere act of sycophancy. “Some Congress does not want to see me close to Raja Saheb,” says the MlA in a public meeting.

Vice-chairperson of SWC ‘afraid of her driver’

The State Women Commission of Haryana is supposed to help the destitute women and girls in the State. But what help can be expected from the Commission where vice chairperson is seeking help from the Department of Social Welfare and sending written request saying ‘I am afraid of my driver’. Few days back, the vice-chairman had written a letter saying that driver Kanwar Singh, who is facing charges of abduction of a girl in Rohtak court, seems imbalanced. He not only drinks but also remains perturbed all the time. On March 29, near Panipat his official car also had a head collision with a two wheeler. Afraid of his driver, the Commission’s vice-chairman now prefers to hire a driver from taxi stands for Government vehicle from her own pocket. Till date nobody bothered about her request. Neither the Minister of this department Geeta Bhukkal or Sumita Mishra who is chairperson of this department replied to her request.
