1ST TIME IN HISTORY, OPP MADE GOVT TO WAlK OUT: Amarinder

PNS

Continuously staying in touch with the protesting MlAs, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday congratulated the legislators for making the Akali-BJP run away from discussion and rush for the cover.

“For the first time in history the Opposition has made the government to walk out of the House,” Capt Amarinder remarked while supporting and justifying the sit-in protest by the legislators.

“You may be able to run away from the Vidhan Sabha, how long can you run away from the people and we are going to drag you to the people’s court,” Capt Amarinder told the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, while disclosing that from the Vidhan Sabha, the protests will now move out all over the state and the final battle will be fought by the ballot.

PPCC president also lashed out at Badal for trying to shed crocodile tears by coming to meet the protesting legislators and asking them to lift thedharna when he should have intervened and facilitated the discussion yesterday only.

“This is too little and too late and Badal is trying to shed crocodile tears in his characteristic manner…Had he really been sincere he, as the leader of the House, should not have allowed this situation to emerge at the first instance,” he said.

Amarinder said, “The fight has just started and we will take it to the logical conclusion”

He pointed out that the Congress workers had already launched a massive offensive against the Government all over the State as protest demonstrations were held at every district and block-level where effigies of the Government were burnt.

Earlier, Capt Amarinder had also condemned the callous indifference and insensitivity of the Chief Minister Badal towards the concerns raised by the principal opposition party in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.

“Badal should rather have appreciated the role of the Opposition which is protesting in most peaceful and democratic way…Not that we did not have other options, but we are only restraining ourselves to maintain peace,” he said, adding that the protest may spillover outside the Vidhan Sabha and it may be difficult for any Government to control or contain it.
