To promote Yoga and sports in the State, Haryana Government has decided to set up 10 sports nurseries in each district. Those children who regularly participate in sports in these nurseries would be given a monthly stipend of Rs 1,500.
Speaking on the second day of the 3-day yoga training camp at Panchkula, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij said that coaches would be appointed to impart training of different sports and prepare children for national and international-level competitions.
He said that inter-school sports competitions would be organised throughout the State, in which at least 10 students from each school would have to participate. It was being considered to organise these competitions from this year, he added.
Vij said that the State Government was communicating with Indian Olympic Association so as to organise National Games in Haryana next year and a decision in this regard would soon be reached. However, the sports unions formed through agreement between different political parties were proving to be a hindrance in this regard, he added.
The Minister said that the identity cards of all ‘sadhaks’ who are slated to participate in the national-level yoga programme to be held at Capitol Complex in Chandigarh on the occasion of ‘International Yoga Day’ on June 21, have been prepared.
