‘Interests of Punjab panth synonymous with SAD’s fortunes’

PNS

SAD president and party’s candidate from Ferozepur Sukhbir Badal on Sunday said that the interests of Punjab, panth and quom (community) are synonymous with Shiromani Akali Dal’s fortunes.

“And that is the only reason why there have always been conspiracies by the enemies of panth and Punjab to weaken the party,” he said while addressing series of public meetings in Ferozepur.

Describing SAD as “Shaheedan te soormian di Jathebandi” (a party of martyrs and heroes), he said that Akali Dal was the only party whose leaders and workers have spent long years in jails and made countless sacrifices for the protection of Punjab’s rights and no one had fought for Punjab like we did.

Describing himself as a “sidha sada desi banda”, Sukhbir said that he instinctively dislikes cheap dramebaazi. “I do not like stunts. I like to focus only on delivering what I promise. But I love the challenge of promising big and delivering big for the people.”

SAD SEEKS MANPREET’s RESIGNATION

Chandigarh: SAD on Sunday asked Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Badal to resign from his post in view of disclosures on Rs 47,000 crore debt made by his colleague and Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu. “He should gracefully accept his failure as Finance

Minister of Punjab and tell people the truth,” said the former Cabinet Minister and SAD general secretary Bikram Singh Majithia.

He said that Sidhu’s disclosures have come as a shock for the Punjabis who were hoping for good days in view of Manpreet’s repeated assurances that state’s financial health is improving.

“It is not only a matter of Rs 47,000 crore debt. If we believe in Sidhu’s words, the State will be burdened with Rs 1,17,000 crores on completion of term of the present government. This is clearly opposite to what Manpreet Badal is claiming during last two years on financial matters,” said Majithia adding that Manpreet owe an explanation on why he failed to disclose this status in the State Assembly while presenting his budget if Sidhu’s disclosures are correct.
