The Ministry of Telecommunications has issued the letter of Intent (loI) to Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJIl), the only 4G license holder. As per sources, “The loI was issued by the Telecom Minister, Kapil Sibal, just 3- 4 days back only.” RJIl holds 4G licenses in all 22 regions.

Already busy laying out its action plan towards 4G network, RJIl is just one step away from launching the next generation telecom services across the country. After receiving the nod from the ministry, Mukesh Ambani led RJIl has to now submit the nearly Rs1,673 crore as one-time entry fee. Apart from that the company would also be required to present a bank guarantee of Rs220 crore and a financial bank guarantee of Rs44 crore.

While RJIl was waiting for an official approval from the ministry, it has already started the device testing of 4G services with Micromax. An official close the testing process added, “The two companies have been involved in the testing process of the broadband wireless access (BWA) license. The testing would continue till the time RJIl officially launch its 4G network.” Earlier this year, RJIl joined hands with Anil Ambani headed Reliance Communication (RCom) to share RCom’s tower network for 4G service. As per the Rs12,000 crore deal, RJIl would use RCom’s tower network of 45,000 ground and rooftop towers to rollout 4G services in the country.

Apart from that RJIl has already signed an agreement with the Kolkata Municipal Corporation for laying out its high speed 4G network and is in talks with the Odisha Government to launch its broadband wireless internet services in the State.
