In a move to consolidate its position with largest market share in broadband space, leading Internet Service Provider (ISP) Joister Infoserve Pvt ltd plans to expand its footprint by acquiring other small ISP firms in Maharashtra & Goa circle.

Joister with over 1000 workforce has diverted all its focus towards tier 2 and tier 3 cities. The company is planning to raise capital through private equity in view of the acquisition strategy of small ISP companies and is in talks with few private equity players.

Commenting over the development, Chairman Nikunj Kampani said, “I firmly believe that the consolidation in the wired broadband space is the right way for faster growth in Maharashtra & Goa circle. Our foresighted plan is to acquire larger market share in the region by consolidation of small ISP firms and progress towards becoming major Internet service provider company in the state.”

According to the latest TRAI report, wired broadband is only 6 per cent of total Internet subscribers in India. There is huge scope for growth in wired broadband space as most of the telecom providers are focusing on wireless broadband, which has its own disadvantages against wired braodband. Wired broadband space is growing rapidly and there is huge increase in the data usage demand due to number of smart devices used at home and offices.

“The current demand can only be served through wired broadband while wireless broadband is useful in roaming scenario. Wired broadband is stable as it does not rely on wireless signal and can provide speeds of 100+ Mbps easily,” said Kampani.
