Delhi’s residents are flocking to MMTC’s Festival of Gold to beat the rising temperatures and get their hands on the best of hallmarked gold and studded jewellery from across the country. The grand exhibition-cum-sale by MMTC, India’s leading international trading company, has returned to fulfill popular demand on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya with handpicked collections of jewellery from ten states of India, gold and silver medallions in 999 purity, the latest range of Sanchi silverware, and the Indian Gold Coin.

The luster of the glittering event was further enhanced by the visit of celebrated model and Femina Miss India International 2011 Ms Ankita Shorey on Saturday. The face of the Indian Bridal Week spoke to the media about her jewellery inspirations and expressed her delight at being able to visit a one-of-a-kind event like MMTC’s Festival of Gold.  She took a round of the many stalls at the exhibition and tried on several pieces of the exclusive jewellery on display.

One of the highlights at the Festival of Gold this year is the Indian Gold Coin, the first ever national gold offering by the Government of India. MMTC was assigned the prestigious responsibility of launching the Indian Gold Coin, which is now being retailed through the Company’s outlets and Indian Overseas bank branches across India. Very soon, the Indian Gold Coin will also be available through India Post and other bank branches across India.

“The traditional and cultural appeal of gold, combined with its strong fundamentals, means the precious metal remains central to millions of Indian households’ long-term savings, and more so during the festival of Akshay Tritiya. This year, Indians have the option of buying gold in its purest form,” Ved Prakash, CMD, MMTC said about the IGC.
