In order to make our lives easy in this digital age, the use of technology is must for all. The next step of innovation in the social development is to introduce the study of Nano-science and Nano-technology in a revolutionary way in the academics."Nano is very small, but when comes to making any thing, it is big, very big... We can't able to solve the world's urgent challenges incrementally. If we want solutions we need a tool that will allow us to achieve broad transformations - Nano-science and Nano-technology," said Prof Vladimir Bulovic, Associate Dean For Innovation, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) at a seminar organised by the Pioneer and All India ladies league (All) on Wednesday.
"Nano is not a specific technology. It does not belong to a particular industry or discipline. It is a revolutionary way to understand and work with matters," he added. In fact, world needs new innovation and this is the time when we need to think. "Major benefits of nano-technology include improved manufacturing methods, energy systems, physical enhancement, Nano-medicine, better food production methods, nutrition and large-scale infrastructure auto-fabrication which have a larger impact on our lives and lifestyle," Bulovic said.Giving examples of the day- to-day life, Bulovic introduced various aspects of the uses of Nano-technology during his presentation in the seminar. "The technology has evolved in a very significant manner and life is incomplete without the use of technology," said Bulovic.
"In every sector like in healthcare, engineering, manufacturing, medical science, food technology, computing and communications, tool-making, sustainable futures, materials and structures, energy and prototyping, now the experiments are being undertaken with the using nano-technology for the required new innovations," he added."Any invention is the outcome of the demand or need. Before to start the experiments for new innovations, the researchers or students or scientists first should do a general study of the problems which society faces due to lack of resources," said Dr Tuli Banerjee, Senior Director, Office of Global Initiative, MIT, adding that on the basis of grass-root research, the invention take place with the help of experiments in the sciences lab.
In the present scenario, the modern inventions have done with the help of nano-technology. In healthcare sector, drugs that seek out cancer cells and leaving the surrounding tissues unharmed, controlling brain activity with the light and devices that build a synthetic bridge between served nerves in paralyzed patients are the latest inventions in medical sciences with nano-technology.The nano-technology has come like a boon in medical science as it operates at the same scale as the body and offering new approaches to human health. In coming days, it will solve the energy-related issues like in cloud computing, which is predicted to increase a thousand-fold over the next decade.
According to the MIT Professor, the new inventions take place when people from multi-disciplinary share their ideas under a single roof. The seminar was hosted by All with The Pioneer as a media partner. Amit Goel , Vice Chairman and Associate Editor, The Pioneer, said, the Governments should have a policy to ensure that innovations in nano world do not get into wrong hands. The world, he said, is in conflict. The danger is that easily accessible nano-technology can be misused by terrorists. The interactive session was attended by eminent business leaders, educationists, lawyers, doctors, media personnel, entrepreneurs, designers, beauty and fitness experts and the defence forces. Eminent personalities present on the occasion were All Chairperson Dr Harbeen Arora, Chapter Chairperson of All Boston, Dr Tuli Banerjee and many other young entrepreneurs and MIT alumni.
