Police recovered the body of a youth packed in a sack with hands and legs tied in Sambalpur district on Tuesday morning. The prima facie police report revealed that it was a case of murder committed over extramarital affair.
Police were probing into the crime detaining a couple in this connection.
According to police, the deceased, identified as Bapi Das (22), was running a grocery shop at Banglapada area in Badabazar in Sambalpur city. A mason, Niranjan Majhi, was staying with his wife near the deceased’s shop. An illicit affair had developed between Bapi and Niranjan’s wife.
Niranjan, who came to know about the affair, hatched a plan to kill Bapi. On Sunday night, he invited Bapi to his house and thrashed him to death with a piece of iron rod. Then, he tied the hands and legs of the body with winding wire and packed it in a large sack to dump at a secluded place.
