In a shocking incident, a girl was stabbed and critically injured by a youth at Ekchalia village of Pipili block in Puri district on Wednesday after she refused to go with him on an outing.
The victim, a student of the Pipili College, sustained injuries on her thighs and has been hospitalised.
Reports said the accused, hailing from the Gop area in the district, came to the girl’s village and asked her to come with him for an outing.
As the girl refused to oblige him, he attacked her with a knife. Hearing screams of the victim, villagers rushed to the spot and thrashed the youth before handing him over to police.
