A minor girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified youth who impersonated him as a Maoist in Bonei sub-division in Sundargarh district on late Sunday night. Police have registered a case and started an inquiry.
Sources said a youth came to Thelakudar village under Bimlagarh panchayat under K Balang police station and met village head Durga Munda. He identified himself as a Maoist and told that about 30-40 Maoists had camped in a nearby forest.
He said cooks were required to cook food for them. Munda got panicked but arranged one old age woman, a 20-year-old girl and another 17-year-old girl to go with him to prepare food.
The youth took the three female with him. On their way, the youth told the old age woman and the 20-year-old girl to wait at a river side at Bimlagarh and took the minor girl to the other side of the river on the plea of bringing rice.
However, after waiting for a long time, when both the women saw that the youth along with the minor girl did not return, they came back to their village and told the village head and villagers about the incident.
When villagers started searching the minor girl, they found her coming to village on Tuesday morning. She told the villagers that the youth had raped her throughout the night in the forest.
After knowing about this, the village head along with villagers came to K Balang police station on Tuesday afternoon and lodged an FIR. The police conducted medical examination of the victim girl.
