A youth was hacked to death over suspected past enmity in Nabarangpur disrict on Saturday night here. A person surrendered before police in connection with the case.
The deceased was identified as Dipak Biswas (23) of Kumuli DNK village under Raighar block in the district.
According to reports, a man had called Dipak over phone to a ground in the night. After he reached the spot, the miscreant attacked him with a hatchet, following which he fell down with serious injuries.
Dipak was first rushed to the Umarkote hospital, from where he was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital as his condition worsened. However, the DHH doctor declared him brought dead.Police sent the body for autopsy on Sunday morning.Although the reason behind the murder was still unclear, family and police suspected that it was due to past enmity. The person, who surrendered before the police, was identified as Bhabatosh Bhadra.
