Police on Monday arrested two youths for allegedly killing their friend at Bandutikra village in the district after he failed to return a mobile phone he had taken from them.
The deceased was identified as Inesh Tandi, son of one Sadananda Tandi of the village. Later, both the accused Asish Bhoi and Bikash Bhoi were forwarded to court
Sources said Inesh had reportedly taken a mobile phone from Asish. However, when Asish asked him to return his phone, Inesh didn’t. On February 15, the accused called Inesh to a secluded place and allegedly slit his throat with a knife and stabbed him with a scissor, added sources.
Still finding him alive, the accused then took Inesh on a motorcycle and threw him off the PC Bridge in Sambalpur and fled the spot.
Based on the complaint lodged by Inesh’s mother, police launched a manhunt and nabbed the accused from Sambalpur. Police also seized a knife, scissor and a motorcycle from the accused duos possession.
“Investigation has revealed that the accused Asish and Bikash killed Inesh for not returning a mobile phone he had taken from them,” said Bargarh SDPO Khirasagar Nayak.
