The Binjharpur police on Thursday arrested accused Somyaranjan Biswal (25) on the charge of throwing acid on a 16-year-old girl of his own village Angalo under its jurisdiction in Jajpur district.
Report said Somyaranjan and the girl had developed some sort of relationship between them. As the girl stopped talking to him, beleaguered Somyaranjan reportedly threw acid on her while she was sleeping in her house on Tuesday night. The girl has suffered burn injuries on her face, back, leg and other parts of her body.
Victim’s father Suresh Rout filed an FIR with the police accusing the boy of attacking her daughter with acid. He also alleged that the accused had earlier trespassed into their bathroom while her daughter was bathing.
“The accused managed to flee from the village after pouring acid on the minor girl. We arrested him from Pattamundai. More investigations are on,” said Jajpur town SDPO Suryakanta Ray.
