The Commissionerate police on Wednesday arrested a youth on the charges of cheating and raping a young woman on the pretext of marrying her. According to police, Jayant Digal of the laxmipur slum at Maitri Vihar under the Chandrasekharpur police limits had developed a physical relationship with the victim promising to marry her and she was staying at Jayant’s house for over a year.
later, the accused threw her out of his house and tried to flee after the incident came to light. The victim’s family members reached the slum and captured him before he could give them a slip.
The Chandrasekharpur police forwarded the accused to court after registering a case on the basis of the woman’s complaint.
