While the girl, a Class X student of Mandia Raghabpur High School, on Saturday night, was returning with her friend by a cycle after attending a private tuition from Raghabpur on the river embankment road, a fellow village youth, Ajay Mallick, allegedly tried to rape her by gaging her mouth and nose with his hand. When she made an attempt to flee from Ajay’s clutches by biting his finger, Ajay allegedly injured her by breaking a couple of her teeth. The victim and her friend cried for help and Ajay fled from the spot by his motorbike after snatching her gold earring and chain before locals reached the spot.
later, the girl lodged an FIR with the police and the police nabbed Ajay. The police on Sunday sent the girl and Ajay for medical examination. The police produced Ajay before the SDJM Court of Kendrapada. The court rejected his bail plea and remanded him to jail custody.
