A youth of Minajauni village under the Pattamundai police station was arrested and forwarded to court for duping a girl of Puri on the pretext of marriage.
The accused identified as Mithu Mallick came in contact with the victim through social media while he was working in a Bhubaneswar-based private company.
Later, both developed intimacy and Mithun kept a physical relationship with the girl on the guise of marrying her. He even forcibly terminated her pregnancy. But when the girl repeatedly pestered him from marriage he tried to avoid her.
However, when the girl managed to reach his village and went to his house, he allegedly assaulted her and drove him away.
Finding no other way out, the girl called the Pattamundai police, who rushed to the spot and rescued her. They also lodged a case based on the girl’s complaint under the relevant sections of IPC and arrested Mithun and forwarded him to court.
