Kamal Agarwl, the youth who was thrashed by two girls at the Buddha Park here recently, has filed a defamation case against the girls at the SDJM Court here in connection with the viral video on the incident.

The case was registered on Friday under Sections 500, 501 of IPC, IT Act 66 (A) and 67 against the girls and a young man, who assaulted Kamal. The SDJM court ordered the Chandrasekharpur police for a probe into the matter, said Kamal’s counsel.

“I have filed a defamation case against the two girls along with another youth for beating me on false allegation in the park and damaging my personal and social status by making the video viral,” Kamal said.

He said the claim made by one of the girls not to have shot the video and not knowing another man, who was also seen in the video thrashing him, was absolutely false.

Both the person and the girl who shot the video used to do part-time student traffic job in Bhubaneswar and the incident was planned by them, Kamal alleged.

Besides, Kamal would demand a compensation of Rs 10 lakh from the girls and the youth for defaming his social and personal image, sources said.

On the other hand, the two girls have lodged a complaint at the Mahila police station here accusing Kamal of cheating them. One of the girls also claimed that she had no relation with the youth, who shot the video.

However, her roommate, who stays in a hostel at Jayadev Vihar, revealed that the youth used to come to that girl and they had close relationship. As the hostel manager was not happy with the attitude and behaviour of the girl, she was asked to leave the hostel, the roommate said on condition of anonymity.

Notably, the second part of the viral video was shot by one of the girls who thrashed Kamal at the park alleging deception.
