A youth died and his father suffered critical injuries when a gas compressor exploded in an ice-cream factory near Nrusingha Chhak in Banki on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Smruti Ranjan of Bolgarh in Khordha district.
Smruti and his father Sushant Sahu had gone to the factory to repair the gas compressor. The compressor exploded, following which the youth died on the spot. His father, who is in his 40s, suffered critical burn injuries.
Police reached the spot and began an investigation into the incident.
