A youth suffered critical burn injuries after he was attacked with acid by a miscreant at Jagannath Vihar in the Rasulgarh area here late on Tuesday night.
According to reports, one Abhi Ojha allegedly threw acid at the youth, identified as Bhagirathi Bej (24), when the latter was sleeping. Ojha fled the spot soon after the incident.
Bej, who sustained 60 per cent burn injuries on his face and hand, was first admitted to the Capital Hospital and then shifted to a private hospital for treatment. Police have started investigation into the incident. Efforts are on to nab the accused. The incident is suspected to be an outcome of past enmity between the attacker and the victim.
