Tension prevailed in front of the Uthani Nuagaon Upper Primary School in Badasahi block of Mayurbhanj district when students and parents under leadership of the local Sarpanch created a ruckus in front of the school alleging that worms were found in midday meal (MDM) served in the school on Saturday.
The agitators protested against the substandard food in MDM by the school authorities. Locals alleged that though Sarpanch Madhusudan Panda had directed to provide good and nutritious food, the sc hool authorities remained indifferent towards the instruction.
The agitators also demanded transfer of school Headmistress Sabini Singh. They too warned that they would intensify their stir in coming days if steps are not taken to address the issue soon.
Meanwhile, students were provided with biscuits as cooking of the MDM food was suspended.
