A large number of irate women on Tuesday gheroed the Belphar Notified Area Council (NAC) Chairman protesting the acute shortage of drinking water in their area and the district administration and municipal authorities’ apathy in solving the problem.
The women from Ward-2 and Ward-11 came in a procession and staged a demonstration in front of the NAC office. later, they barged into the NAC Chairman’s office chamber and threw bangles at the Chairman in the presence of police personnel alleging his ineptness in solving their problem.
On Monday, the residents, including a large number of women of Belpahar block staged a road blockade near Belpahar on NH- 49 protesting scarcity of drinking water in their area and the local administration’s failure in providing drinking water to the people. As a result, vehicular traffic on the Raipur-Chandikhol road was disrupted for a while.
