The BJP Kissan Cell in a memorandum to the city DCP has alleged that the law and order situation in Dhauli GP has deteriorated due to the laxity of police and sought permission to hold a peaceful demonstration before the ACP Zone II office.

Kissan Cell leader Rabi Maharana in the memorandum stated that a distressed Dalit woman, Suchitra Kandi, had lodged an FIR (No 48/ 17) on April 29, 2017 stating that husband of Dhauli sarpanch Harekrushna Sahoo alias Kusa, Jogan Sahayak oF Dhauli GP Prakash Chandra Swain, Jugal Kandi, Prakash Kandi and others set her dwelling house on fire after forcibly evicting her by issuing life threats.

later, a case was lodged under Sections of 341, 323,294, 179, 436, 506, and 34 under SC / ST Act against the accused at the Dhauli police station against the accused. But the police without taking any action against the culprits set them free. As a consequence, the emboldened hooligans threatened the distressed woman to withdraw the FIR or face dire consequences, stated Maharana.

He further said the culprits, having the blessings of the ruling party have used their clout to torture the father-in-law and husband of the complainant.

However, one month has passed since the incident, but the police inaction has made the atmosphere in the area highly volatile, Maharana said.

When contacted, police said money was sanctioned for a road in the village near the house of the complainant, for which she had agreed. later, a dispute arose and to frame the opposite party she set her house afire.

But the blaze was brought under control and there was no major damage to it. To ensure a permanent solution the police have asked the local Revenue Inspector to measure the land and find out which is Government and private land, so that the road can be constructed and the political bickering can end so that peace and tranquility in the village remains intact.
