The Nikirai police on Sunday arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in stripping a 24-year-old woman and assaulting her brutally over a property dispute on Friday at Koro village in Kendrapada district.Later, the incident had gone viral on social media.
Kendrapada SP Madakar Sandeep Sampat said the accused were identified as Sarat Chandra Nayak (66), Niranjan Nayak (28) and Muna Nayak (36), of Koro village.
They are relatives of the victim.Suchismita Bhadra alias Suchismita Pradhan married to Jitendra Pradhan of Tanara village under the Nikirai police station. The accused relatives several times claimed that the house in which she was staying belonged to them and threatened her to vacate it.Earlier, Suchismita had filed a case at the SDJM Court and informed the Nikirai police station about the matter.
But on the fateful day, the accused tried to forcibly vacate the house and when Suschismita resisted she was brutally assaulted and stripped. He uncle Radhakanta Rout,who came to her rescue was also badly beaten up and injured.
Police are on the lookout for some others, who were involved in the incident, said the SP. The accused were produced in court on Saturday and as their bail petitions were rejected they were sent to judicial custody, said Nikrai PS IIC Kabuli Barik.
