PNS

The Commissionerate police have begun investigation into the misbehaviour to a woman journalist in a moving bus after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered a probe into the incident.

The bus ‘Ghanshyam’ from Rajnagar in Kendrapada district to Cuttack city, in which the incident took place, has been identified by the Commissionerate cops and the victim’s statement was recorded on Friday. A special team, including a woman officer, is probing the incident under direction of Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora.

The Chief Minister gave the probe order on Thursday after the victim posted his ordeal in the moving bus in a social networking site. The CM ordered the police to conduct a thorough probe and take immediate action. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has posted about the probe order on social media.

The CM has also asked to investigate why did not the helpline number provide help and who is responsible for it. The police have started an investigation into it also.

Commissioner of Police YB Khurania said the Cuttack DCP has started the investigation. A case has been registered based on the facebook post of the victim girl and her statement has been recorded. The police are confident that they would solve the case in a couple of days.

Notably, after being misbehaved by a fellow male passenger in a moving bus, on Wednesday, the victim had dialed the Police Helpline number 100 and Women Helpline number 1091, but surprisingly there was no response to her calls.
