Police on Friday shot dead a woman cadre during an exchange of fire with Maoist cadres in a forest under the Rampur police station in Kalahandi district on Friday.
Kalahandi SP M Vivek Shravana said after getting inputs of the presence of a group of Maoists in the forest. A police team was sent to the spot for search operations.
But the Special Operations Group and District Voluntary Force jawans were fired upon when they asked the rebel to surrender.. The jawans retaliated in which a woman Maoist was killed while others fled. Police have also seized some ammunition and other articles from the spot.
