Woman lecturer reinstated after scribes intervene

BADAl TAH S

Geetanjali Patra, a lecturer in mathematics of Rayagada Women’s College, had been petitioning before the district administration for last two and a half years against her suspension for a trivial reason, but in vain.

Her allegation was that she was mentally and physically tortured by the then principal of the college, who retired recently. Though the case was going the Itishree way, theintervention of the scribes of the locality finally helped Patra getback her job.

As the principal had clout in the corridor of power, her complaints against him were not heard of. Patra said though after long delays, the ADM had reinstated her, the order was not being implemented by the concerned authorities.

“The Sub-Collector, who is the ex-officio chairperson of the college’s governing body, made inordinate delay in providing an inquiry report in the case. So, it is not possible to take a decision with regard to Patra’s case. We all are equally concerned about the issue of Patra,” said the present principal of the college. The Sub-Collector was not available for his comment.

However, when the scribes talked to the Collector about Patra’s case, he assured to take immediate action. As a part of his commitment, he finally passed an order on Tuesday for her reinstatement. Collector Sashi Bhusan Padhi’s quick intervention in this case has been appreciated by the denizens.
