A married woman here, Tanusree Paramanik, on Wednesday afternoon attempted to commit suicide after allegedly strangulating a five-year-old son of a neighbour to death at Kolathia under the Khandagiri police limits.
The woman reportedly having psychiatric issues had invited the boy to play with her daughter and then killed him. Soon after, she hanged herself with a saree. However, she was rescued in a critical condition and rushed to the AIIMS here.
“She killed my son after inviting him to her house. I don’t know why she did this,” said Sameer Patra, father of the deceased boy.
Tanusree is staying at a rented house with her husband and they have a five-year-old daughter. Her husband is working with the AIIMS here.
