A woman has allegedly been killed by her in-laws over dowry demand at Thanapalli village under the Begunia police limits in Khordha district. She was identified as Binati Behera, wife of Kalindi Behera.
“They (woman’s in-laws) used to torture my daughter demanding more dowry. After her marriage, they had demanded Rs 1 lakh more.
Her in-laws have strangled her to death as there is injury mark on her neck,” the deceased’s father alleged.
On Saturday, Binati had been taken to a hospital.
However, she was declared brought dead at the hospital.
The family members of the woman have lodged a police complaint in this connection. Police detained her husband for interrogation after he was nabbed by villagers while he was trying to flee from the area.
