A man allegedly bludgeoned his elderly mother to death at a village in the Kishorenagar area of Angul district on Saturday. The incident occurred at Ghosara Mugamala Sahi under the Kishorenagar police station in the district.
The accused, identified as Abani Pradhan, was taken into custody by police.
Sources said Abani’s mother Pankajini (70) refused to hand over the money she had received as old age pension to him. Livid with rage over the refusal, Abani allegedly bludgeoned her to death with a club.
The accused then threw the body in an abandoned well in the backyard of their house.
